To the build up & Xmas? Myself, too commercialized, rip off prices, feel sorry for the parents that have not got enough to get decent pressies for their children, & NO, not a miserable old fart, I have Grandkids.

I don't think having grandchildren and being a miserable old fart are mutually exclusive....
I think Jesus cries tears of Coca Cola every time that advert is shown on tv.

You're right, TWR.

And that awful sinking feeling when you are given a present 10 times the value of the one you have given.

Thankfully we sorted it out years ago. Presents for under 18s only, except for immediate family - and then the adult gifts are capped at £20.
No, I can't say I am looking forward to it. Far too overrated in my opinion.

Eccles, I have not forgotten to answer your Question Yesterday.
It is very hard to tell people that you will not be taking part in Christmas, epecially your children. (Mine are in their 20's) but I simply can't afford it and that's that. I ask every year for them not to buy me presents but they always do which makes it even more bloody miserable.
I'm looking forward to Christmas threads staying in Christmas section!
