Jimi Hendrix- Electric Ladyland
Fleetwood Mac- Rumours
Queen- A Night at the Opera
Bob Dylan- Highway 61 Revisited
The Kinks- We are the Village Green Preservation Society
Question Author
I have that kinks album too Graham! There' loads of 60's and 70's stuff I love still, the Troggs, Animals, Stones, Beatles......
Bob Dylan Blood On The Tracks
Queen Night At The Opera
The Eagles Desperado
S & G Bridge Over Troubled Waters
The Who Meaty, Beaty, Big and Bouncey
Or to be a little more obscure:
Frank Zappa- We're only in it for the Money
Captain Beefheart- Trout Mask Replica
John Mayalls Blues Band- Blues from Laurel Canyon
Robert Johnson- King of the Delta Blues
Iggy Pop- The Idiot

Far too many to choose just 5.
The list probably changes every day and as soon as I've pressed Submit here I'll probably remember an album I've missed off the list. Assuming we can't have greatest hits compilations my list would look something like this.
> Stone Roses-Stone Roses
> Queen- Sheer Heart Attack
> Sex Pistols - Never Mind...
> Oasis- Definitely Maybe
> Pink Floyd- probably DSOTM

It's all pretty conventional stuff. I'm not really satisfied with that list though as it excludes ELO and doesn't really reflect my love of sixties stuff and Northern Soul/Motown and Four Seasons
that is why it's so easy for me, I have 13 Garth albums and any one of them could be my fave at any time,

Graham - I have every one of those too! I also like Live at filmore and Hot Rats, too numerous to mention. to pick just 5 As the good captain said, the torture never stops!
Very true factor, I look at other peoples lists and think how can I have forgot that one? and immediately think of some thing I should've had on the list.
I agree with Factor, it changes daily. I've got a Sony Jukebox with all my albums loaded on it. If I set it to play random tracks I'm astounded at just how many tracks I'd forgotten just how good they are.
5 of my favourites:
Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits
Small World Big Band - Jools Holland & Friends
The Tractors - The Tractors
Christmas Carols - Beechwood Park School Choir
Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club
Iluvspikey. There you go. I'd forgotten about the Electric Violin on Hot Rats. Jean Luc Ponte and Sugarcane Harris, if I remember correctly.
The Stone Roses- The Stone Roses
Leftfield- Leftism
Robbie Williams-Escapology
Oasis- What's the Story Morning Glory
Amy Winehouse -Back to Black

There are so many more that I love though, it' a tough question.
Question Author
Yup you are right Graham, the only member of the mothers to appear on Hot rats was Ian Underwood
Genesis Trick of the Tail
Mike and the Mechanics The Living Years
Fairport Convention Liege and Lief
Supertramp Crime of the Century
and 'cos I've just got it for Xmas and love euphoric dance Ministry of Sound 90s Anthems
The Eagles - Long road out of Eden
Mark Knopfler - A shot at Glory soundtrack
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
Status Quo - Dog of two head

But I reserve the right to amend this list in the cold light of day ...

1. Roy Harper - Stormcock
2. Bob Dylan - Desire
3. Santana - Abraxas
4. Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason
5. Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
At the moment mine would be.

1. Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg
2. Mumford and Sons - Sigh No More
3. REM - Automatic For The people
4. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's what I'm Not
5. De La Soul - 3 Feet High And Rising
