Whats the rules on driving a new car with the tax disc expired

I have today bought a new car which has a years mot but no tax...have spoken to my insurance company and changed the insurance over and have paid extra for next day delivery on the new documents....but obviously will not get them until tues. In the meantime how do I stand regards the tax disc,,,,can't tax it without insurance and yet really shouldn't drive it without tax. Does this mean I'm without a car until tues?

legally yes,if you get stopped you run the risk of the car being impounded and crushed,or a heavy fine.surely you can wait till tuesday.
