Lets say i have 2 sisters whose pregnancies are staggered so sister 1's pregnancy is more advanced and then sister 2 has her baby prematurely.
Which child is technically older and if this came to a decision for an inheritance which would go to the eldest, which one would receive it?

Really 2shortplanks? I thought the law would recognise the eldest as the one that was physically older and not by the fact that they breached the womb first.
the first born.... simples

Do you count your age from your date of birth or your date of conception?
Yep, first born.

Okay thanks it seemed hard to comprehend earlier but now seems pretty obvious.
The date of birth is the only relevant factor here. Can you imagine the Chaos! You'd have to have certificates of conception, not birth! Think it through!
How could you prove which was conceived first?

As far as I can tell, due date estimation is a very inexact science.
any inheritance should not really just been given based on who was born first...that is asking for trouble ...
oh and yes it goes by your DOB - that is when your age is calculated from... i am amazed you would think you could argue it based on conception dates...
The one which was actually born first - how could it be any other way??
I've got my birth certificate but can not find my conception certificate. I think my parents forgot to apply for it.
Hi Meenah I'm really sorry this question really does puzzle me and I hope these children (cousins) that aren't even born yet !don't get split up over any inheritance.
I am thinking it could possibly be a family tradition leaving money etc to the first born but in this day and age it doesn't seem right.
These two babies yet to be born deserve the best out of life and as their Uncle/Aunt ? you should be supportive of them both and of any future Nieces or Nephews.
Thankfully you now have your answer, Meenah, but like joko I too am completely baffled as to why you should consider that anything other than a person’s date of birth should determine how old they are.

I’m not having a go at you because you obviously had different ideas (“...it seemed hard to comprehend earlier but now seems pretty obvious.). But I am genuinely puzzled by the fact that you could ever consider that the date of conception could somehow be used to determine whether person A might be older than person B.

Could you please put me out of my misery and let me know how you got hold of this idea?
new judge... id say it was a case of meenah thinking their child stood to inherit an nice little amount - then got gazumped by an unexpected premature birth - and is now desperately grasping at straws and trying to invent ludicrous claims in order to claw back the cash after all

quite funny really - id have loved to see this one presented to a court...haha
