How long can you have an out-dated tax disc on your car before it would be deemed as illegally parked on a road?

A colleague at work forgot to renew her tax, it was a couple of days out of date and the street traffic wardens clamped her. It cost her £60 to release it, plus the cost of her disc.
tigger, why not go around to your neighbours and ask them if (i) they know the car and (ii) if they do, are they alright......that would be the civil thing and then, if no one claims it is theirs, then you can put your sadistic boot in............and have it carted off and 'pressed'
tigger, my mum got done by the traffic wardens once - she has a disabled badge but in error put it in the window upside down - they said it couldn't be easily read....

There is no need for your nasty rudeness Joko. It might help if you read the whole thread before spouting you vile venom.

I know its not nice Box and DT but I'm just getting fed up with seeing it there. My neighbour (the nice one) was even asking me about the car last month and I told him it wasn't mine. He then said to me jokingly "I'm just eliminating you from my enquiries" which means that he'd noticed it as well.

Can't seem to do right for doing wrong it seems.

Breaking the law is second nature to Doc, Eddie! Lol
Jeez, this is doc who has a campaign to report drivers with non-standard number plates to the police. That offence sounds much more serious.

Don't forget the pirate DVDs, Box!
If there had been a car parked outside my house without moving for 2 months and the tax ran out I would report it too tiggs.

Don't feel guilty Tigger. If I read this right they have decided to abandon their vehicle outside your home without regard for your parking situation. If they had a thought for you they could have popped a note through.your door. Regardless of whether you having no automatic rights to the space outside your home it is their selfishness. I speak from experience ... get it towed.

I'm going to give it another few days Jan and see what happens. I've actually just looked out the window and there appears to be a black and white notice on which isn't on any other parked car. I wonder if it is a warning.

Thanks CK, it's hard enough trying to get a 10 month old in and out of my 3 door Fiesta and having to park it down the road makes it a bit more difficult especially if I've got shopping and other baggage to transport.
vile venom? nasty rudeness? !

oh please. get a grip.

i called you sad, nothing more...and i was not the only one

i read the thread quite clearly, and you seem to think you have rights over the road.
Dont be so sly and at least try to find out the situation first before potentially causing someone a load of trouble...as as been said there are many reasons why someone might not drive their car for a while, and they are entitled to leave it wherever they choose... and your rather petty and selfish reason for reporting it - that you are simply sick of seeing it there - and your apparent glee at doing it, just says it all about your mentality...

whether it is moved or not you may still not get 'your' space, so do you really want to potentially cause neighbour problems over this??

something tells me that you do....
in fact why dont you just put a note on it asking them if they would mind moving it? rather than involving the law etc?
Stop being so bloody nasty joko............you made your feelings clear in your first post, there's no need to go on about it!
If it was parked outside my house for two months and had no tax, I'd report it.....no question.
Question Author
You know nothing of my mentality so do not presume to think you do. I never once said I had any rights over the road. In fact I said that I know I don't have any rights so get your facts straight.

I have thought about putting a notice on the car before the disc ran out but I did think that would be too petty. Since it has run out it is illegally parked but I will wait a few days before reporting it. And I have every right to report it.

Thank you Craft and Lesblue.

Joko, there are ways of putting your point across without the attitude.
