I sold my car to the scrappy a few months back and sent the slip off to say this had been done and it has just occured to me that I don't recall getting a letter from the DVLA confirming this; should I have done?

Yes.
Hope you didn't take it down Harbury Lane, Soph!
£100 ish at Coventry Road.

Did the scrappies give you a stamped receipt? You should hear from DVLA around 2-3 weeks later. If not, you'll see it on Radford Road one night!

Thank you! Will have to ring them up and check they know about it, I may have recieved the letter and just filed it away and forgotten about it to be honest!
Actually, I traded my car in on the scrappage deal a year and a half ago - to a big dealer - and I never got any letter either. But I've never been chased up for road tax or anything.
Ruddy DVLA ... want sacking .. Give us all a bit of peace.

As for you madam .. I'll chase you up a bit if you like ; )

Errm can't remember AlBags, ooh dear! Have just checked on the Vehicle Enquiry section of the DVLA site and my new car comes up straight away but my old car says "Vehicle details could not be found" is this a good sign?
Just saw it was your birthday too, madam.
I'll stamp your card too ...

xx Happy Birthday lover xx
I might let you catch me ;)
Thanks x
Check with DVLA if I were you. If it was Harbury .. I would for sure.
Use Coventry Road ; )
You are a darling Karen, putting up with silly me : )
You need that new hair ruffling up a little then?

Wasn't either of them Albags and you're coming across very stalker-y or are you just demonstrating how much personal info we give away online?
Don't worry about Al Sophie, he only stalks me :)

Ta Eddie, will have a look in a mo to see if I did get one; had declared SORN and remember getting letter for that but not sure about the one confirming the sale.
Am I? Sorry. I wouldn't mention your area.
But as I lived in L Spa a while back .. thought it would be useful for you to know : )

Karen and I stalk each other all the time .. eh Karen?
Must shoot .. all ...
Watching 'Let Me In' tonight : )

Kiss.
Absolutely Al, it's good to keep one's hand in with these things ;)

So should I be worried that I never heard anything at all about my old car - am I likely to get in trouble all this time later?
Question Author
Yeah that's fair enough! Well; can't find the letter and have also realised I can't find the MOT certificate; things just get worse and worse!
