Rover cars

Are rover cars good on petrol consumption, i was in the same car on 2 different occaisons yesterday and we had travelled some distance and i was expecting the needle to drop alot due to the drivers driving(being a new driver) but the needle only moved a small fraction, the is a rover 25 or 1 of similar style

I have owned rovers and I have found them a bit guzzly, though I will admit I owned a rover 800 a 416 a montego and a 25, the 25 was a 1.8 which was quite quick but it used to guzzle petrol.

distance travelled was about 40 miles

i did wonder whether the petrol gauge was bust and that was why it hadnt moved,

I know someone who put a gallon of petrol in his Rover car and he drove it for over 60000 miles. There was still a gallon of petrol in it at the end.
He had used a hell of a lot of diesel though.
