I need to change the engine in my fiat punto. how would this affect my insurance when am taking one out? do I need a certificate for the engine change? and on average how much does it cost for a qualified mechanic to put in a new engine?

you will have to enter the new engine number on the registration document, along with any change in engine size, e.g, from 1.1L to 1.3L, if applicable, only if the size changes will you have to notify your insurance company.

prices for fitting vary and may depend on whether its a new engine or a second ahnd engine, for a punto, as long as there are no otyher parts or work needed, I would have charged about �80, also think on other things at the same time, how old is your clutch?, it may be worth replacing it at the same time as the engine
