Can I take out comprehensive insurance on a car that is registered in my son's name but that I have paid for and that I will be the main driver of? He would be a named driver and is over 30 years old.

Really?
Why on earth would you want to do that? Why not register the car in your name, or do you have something to hide?

I tried to insure a friends car for myself to use while he was banned and was told by several insurance companies that I can not insure a car not owned by myself as I have no insurable interest in it. (I ended up buying it from him for £1 and selling it back to him when he got his license back)

I thought it might be something like that. Magicmerlin, having sadly had experience with a Bailiff, (hopefully over that now), I don't want to be in that situation again. I think I should tell the insurance company now as it is Saga Insurancve, do you agree anyone?

I Thought that might be the case Eddie. As I'm with Saga, (being over 50), I guess I'll have to change my insurance company then??

Just done a comparison site search and found 15 odd sites cheaper than Saga. I stated that I was the main driver but not the registered owner. Seemples!!
