Has it got 16 valves?  If it has then the chances are most likely.  Was the engine running at above idle RPM when the belt snapped?

The only cheap way to see if it bent the valves is to fit a new belt and try and start the engine (ensuring it's timed correctly!).  If it runs without misfiring then you might be lucky.... but very doubtful.  Of all the engines I worked on I think I only came across one engine where it didn't bend the valves (OHC) and I think that broke at idle - pure luck.

my partner brought me a clio sport and after 10,000 the cam belt broke in that, (I dont know why) any way it was still under warrenty (thank god) as i had to have a new engine put in the valves bounced all over the place.
You don't say what engine your laguna has but I would say there is high possibilty that there will be bent valves and other damage ie. broken camshaft
