That's unusual, usually they won't cover business travel but going to work, normally comes under the heading of private usage. Read it carefully but if that is correct then yes they are taking the p155. Give those sh1tbags the sack straight away.
TWR, I'm insured with M&S - I've just dug out my papers as I've just renewed it, and on the back of my documents it says "..insured whilst being used for SDP as well as commuting to and from your regular place of work". I think you need to check it out with M&S - I bought my cover on-line originally and I feel there may have been a check box to say "will you commute in the car" but I couldn't be sure.

Do U know RIGeezer, Never had a claim in my years of driving, ( I was driving when they had gas lamps lol) I only checked this out because of the Access, my Policy is up in April!!!! Need I say anymore?
You have to watch them these days, I'm waiting for the first certificate to say, covered except when the car is on the public highway! Reminds me of Drop the dead donkey when Gus got ill and discovered that his private health inurance only covered him up to the point he became ill! priceless!

Hi, I have just this Min got in contact with M&S & yes, you are right Boxtops you DO have to stipulate that the car will be used TO & FROM your place of work, I also ask why this was not asked of me in the first instance??? in other words, if you do not ask, they will not tell you, forgive me for being a bit on the back seat here but do you not think that should not EVEN come into the equation? Bloody hell the next bloody thing they will ask you, are your tyres Black & round, I would advise ALL to check this out before you come unstuck.
you have to pay for anything you want covered - mine doesn't include windscreen cover,
unless i pay £20 on top - yes - i am fully comp aswell.
S.D.P.& commuting - standard practice these days
Sadly it is seen more and more S&D with or without traveling to your place of work has become comon place.
Even though without that essencial travel we probably couldnt afford a car to start with.

Personaly i think its a rip-off as i see it, it is domestic to have to go to the place of work and return home.
Most people dont use their cars while at work and anyone expecting to should expect to pay extra for that privilage, but the travel to and from work is why most of us actualy get vehicles in the forst place.
We should be lobying our MP's and fare trade regarding this stupid introduction of communiting on top of standard insurance ,after all you didnt insure your vehicle from 7pm to 7 am only ! You insured it for the year " all of the year.
i have known an insurance claim thrown out because the person declared he was only using it socially, then had a major prang on his way to work. Unfortunatly he mentioned this on his claim, lo & behold they threw it out, basically he had forgotten what he had said on his proposal form..doh!!
how many people say there cars are garaged to reduce the premium, when in fact they are parked on the road or in the drive...me for one..

I have worked in the insurance industry (Broking) for over thirty years and can tell you that this is nothing new. It's just one of the factors that is taken into account when calculating the premium. We used to do it manually at one time but now it's all done by the computer. Never, ever, try and save money by not telling the Insurer the true facts - it can cost you dear in the long run! Try posting this question under the "insurance" heading - there are some very knowledgeable insurance people on there.
