Can you take your driving test in a "new" Mini? I heard you couldn't for visibility reasons or a Smart or a Clio. I'm probably wrong. I usually am. Cheers Beauty!

no reason why you cant, if it was a serious visibility issue that prevented you taking a test , it shouldnt be on the road...Instructors often favour particular cars for ease of driving in particular reversing etc.which help to get you through the test, maybe Minis dont fall in this catagory
u can take a test in any car.....as chas2008 states "if it was a serious visibility issue that prevented you taking a test"
There are some vehicles you cannot take a test in, and I feel I remember hearing it was on visibility for the tester reasons. However I can't currently find a link to confirm this.

However here is a list of those that cannot be used unless you can prove that recall work has been carried out.

.... and that last link says the convertible versions of the Mini, Ka and Beetle are also banned.

That is probably where your story originates.

I have seen quite a few driving schools using non converible Minis, so you can relax now.
Seems to be a strange reason- isn't part of a driving test to find out if the driver can cope with unusual events on the road ?
Surely these cars have more visibility than vans, or have these been banned as well ?
What's next "sorry your test has been cancelled, it might rain "
This is the current list of cars that cannot be used:

That is marginally better than my first link, but still not good.

Try these two

That's wierd. Sometimes Milvus and my last one work, and sometimes shows a page about battery recycling.
