Micro SD card compatability?

I'm going to buy a micro sd card from ebay but when I'm looking them up one could say it's for a mobile phone and the other might say its for a nintendo ds. Do I have to buy a micro sd card specifically for what I want to do or does all cards work in the same way?

A microSD card is a microSD card, regardless of what the seller says it's for.
