LGV/PCV Driving licence

In March 2000 I was due to renew my LGV/PCV driving licence. I was working in a different industry at the time and let the licences drop...I now find myself in a dead end job and realise I should have kept my licences. My question is... can I claim grandfather rights and just take my medical, or do I have to re-take my LGV/PCV tests again?

Phone the DVLA - they will be able to give the right advice applicable to you

Heres a list of DVLA offices. Try the regional offices as they may be less busy, or send an e mail.

If you want my opinion, I think you will have to re take your test(s) and don't forget this will include the theory test as well.

Hi Roy i am an ex HGV, you will need a medical £94.00 then the cost of your Licence, Tuition, Test, you are talking in the region £400/ £500 I do not think I am far out on that Quote. A lot has changed in 8 yrs, then the Job was fairly good but now?? I dare not print it but you know what I mean you have been there.

Thanks TWR. I agree the industry is going backwards, but people will always need training. I intend to be an instructor, and need the licences to start my own training first. I have eventually been in touch with the DVLA(licencing dept;) who having asked all relevent Q's and they informed me a medical and completed application form, with correct fee will secure my PCV/LGV entitlement back oon my licence... YIPEE !! thanks everyone who replied.
