gearbox

hi i have got a renault laguna the gears are all o.k except third it crunchers like i'm not putting the clutch in is there a fix or is it new gearbox x reg 2000 rt dti cheers rick. p.s i have got some gearbox oil would this help and where do i put it

Im afraid its a gearbox rebuild or a good second hand gearbox, neither will be cheap

yup, unfortunately, it sounds like the 3rd gear synchromesh-replacement gearbox i'm afraid!

If you double de-clutch into third and it still won't go in then it is the syncro thats gone, have you tried that?

Sorry I worded my answer slightly wrong.

If you double de-clutch into third and it still won't go in then it's not the synchromesh thats gone, it's another problem somewhere.

Sounds like the synchro has worn down and is basically not effective, nothing you can do, it'll stay like that for years to come. Live with it. Try changing the oil but do not overfill, both too much oil or thick oil can cause drag in a synchro and give the crunch into gear
