Hi, it depends on how Mech minded you are, You say they are noisy!!!!!!! are you not confusing this with a wheel bearing?

If it`s the wheel bearings or the CV joints (constant velocity, or what were known as universal joints in rear wheel drive propellor shafts), then unless you have an extensive toolkit, including large bench vice, suitable drifts, I would leave it to the professionals. I know, I`ve done them many times, & they can be a pain sometimes.

thanks for the replies chaps/chapesess... i think wheel bearings are ok, it's definately the drive shafts nocki! nock! nock! nock! as you go round corners, which eliminates track rod ends. its front wheel drive & i believe cv joints are fitted into drive shafts and are bought as a unit,..... i have compressors tools etc & i am fairly well in mechanics. so i should be ok for fitting...but i have never done this before what snags am i likely to run into, how long does it take, am i likely to rip my knuckles to shreds. am i likely to swear & curse in the process, any advice (apart from take it to a garage) is appreciated

they are not really hard if you are mechanically mindedpassenger side just drop bottom ball joint out undo centre nut on hub first then pull out drivers side the same some have bracket holding shaft with to 10 ml nuts tack them nearly off turn the pins it is shaped to lock on to shaft then pull the shaft out you might have to tap with hammer to get it out
