Is my cataytic convertor broken. There is a strong smell of sulphur. Its a vauxhall Meriva

that can be quite normal, they all used to smell like that when new , not so much now though, not quite sure whats changed in the manufacturer of them.
No it's working perfectly if it stinks of rotten eggs, or as you say sulphur.
in theory if there was a problem with it it would throw up a managment warning light
