As the tax and MOT on my car both lapsed while I've been serving a driving ban, can anyone suggest a company that is able and willing to buy vehicles at a reasonable price and collect them? Since I lost my job when I lost my licence I can afford neither the luxury of a car nor the price of insurance/ tax/ MOT to keep it running.
I know that if I book the car in for an MOT test, I can drive it to that test without tax, but even the cost of insurance for that single journey is beyond budget.

Why not have a chat with the local garages and see if they would make you an offer.
look in your local paper, there will be people in there that will buy cars without mots.
if there is nothing wrong with the car to make it fail an MOT then your best bet is to somehow try and get it MOT'd before selling it. Unless it if something special then pretty much any car without an MOT is worth next to nothing so you'd more then make your money back selling it with a years MOT
most people who have fully comprehensive insurance can drive other cars with third party only cover.

the car they drive does not need to be insured in its own right, but that means if the person who drives your car on their insurance leaves it parked on a public road, it is an uninsured vehicle. the police cannot touch the person or the car until the person walks away from the car, leaving it on the road. as long as they don't do that, its fine.

i would ask a friend with comp insurance to drive it to the mot station for you.

sorry for the long winded reply!

Thanks for your answers, particularly mark and einstein. Maybe I should have made it more clear in my question that the car is mechanically sound - I've found that those people willing to buy cars without MOTs in the local paper are offering up to 100 for scrap value, not what I had in mind. I'll see if I can find a friend to drive it to get its MOT.
