Hi I own a VW passatt 2006 saloon and it has an electronic parking brake. Over the last few months is has failed and is showing on the display as a parking brake failure. the only way to get it to work is to keep re starting the engine and it has only done this occasionally. However today I had parked the car up thought the handbrake had worked and turned the engine off, the car rolled forwards luckily there was nothing in front of me and I pressed the footbrake and this of course didn't work either! I quickly started the engine and eventully the handbrake decided to work. I then drove to my garage and of course had no probs at all and on phoning for assistance, they unfortunately can't do anything unless the brake is faulty at the time f calling them which is obviously very inconvenient. Do any of you know what this could be and is it a common problem with Passatts?

It's still under warranty; the dealer should fix it - and, if he's any good, lend you a car while he does.
