my partner bought a car for me on 21 june this year, he bought it in his own name as the bankers draft was from his account, although the tax book was sent away in my name from the car dealers to dvlni.i was then caught with no tax on the 25 june, and didnt get car taxed till july as i was on holiday.i backdated the tax from 1 june.
dvlni now say i have to pay a fine of 300 as the car has not been taxed since may-even though i didnt have it in may.they want to see a receipt for the car-but as i didnt buy it what do i do ?i am not liable for the full amount of the fine.
