Oil Pressure warning light

When I turn on the electrics of my Ford Ka 1.3 the oil pressure warnng light comes on but then goes out when the engine is started. I've checked the oil level which is fine and looked in owners guide but it only covers if the light comes on during a journey.
What does it mean and what should I do?????
