My car needs MOT'ing as it has lapsed, if i drive my car to the garage for a pre booked test, am i legal on the road, if i got pulled over, could i be done?

as long as you have a appointment at the mot station,then you are legal

Sorry to be pedantic but you will not strictly be legal. However, if you are stopped en route to a prebooked MOT this counts as a defence in law.
I think it has to be your nearest mot centre. ie not 500 miles away!
Sorry, mrs_overall. Norman is quite right. You are allowed to drive to a pre-booked test, and to drive back again if the car fails.

I stand corrected! I would offer to thrash myself soundly but instead I'll slap my idiot brother (who's a Policeman) who gave me the answer! Grrrrr.
