starting a 1997 renault cleo 1.2!

Hi, 1997 renault cleo 1.2 ......problem starting....could be to do with the immobiliser? quite often it will only start when the battery is nearly dead...then sputter into action. Once going it drives lovely......battery fine: been tested.
any suggestions please?

Clio's are well known for water leaking through the roof ariel and getting into the immobilisor sensor which is right underneath it, join this forum to find how to fix it.....
