every so often these stores have a special offer on petrol, If you spend 50 in store you get a voucher for 5p a litre off your petrol bought at their own petrol station (Tesco and Sainsbury sell petrol as well). When it happens there appears to be no way of knowing this except at the store. Its worth a round trip of 10 miles to get your shopping and fill your tank up the same time,
You usually find that the offer is preceded by a series of tv ads promoting the offer
If your car does the average 10miles/litre it will cost you 86p round trip to Tesco. For this you will need to purchase 17 litres fuel before any gain. Our Tescos charges 3p/litre more than the local garage.
Moral: don't worry about it!.

Its on a retail park so i only use them when i am going there anyway (B&Q, Comet and many more). Our Tescos is always 3p per litre cheaper than locally + the 5p discount makes it 8p a litre cheaper. Is worth doing if you are there anyway.
