my vectra cuts out when pulling up to stop or when sat in traffic not moving it can just cut out. it doesn't do it all the time it has a good couple of days then a bad one. when i brought it the previous owner had put a performance air filter on it (not sure how long ago) but it has no air feed to it from the front of the car the car struggles to pick up power if you really put your foot down but if your sensible its fine i plan on changing it back to a standard fitler box asap. could this also cause the stalling??? might change the plugs as well as she does use a bit of fuel(i suppose thats what you get for buying a 2 litre vauxhall should of known better) thankyou for any advice recieved

Sounds like you are correct in your assumption. Your car should be lively throughout the full rev range. Take the filter out and drive the car to see if that solves the problem - if it does then you will know that the filter or the breathing setup on the filter box is choking the engine. Don't use it for any great length of time without the filter in place - only to test your theory.
