my neighbour has parked a long wheelbase hightop transit van on his driveway which is immediately next to mine. it also displays two hazard stickers on the back which state it carries compressed gas cylinders and flammable gases. not to mention the thing is an eyesore dominating the view from/at my house. is there any thing i can do? i have politely asked him to park it elsewhere but got no result.

I doubt if there is anything you can do mate!
sorry ratter!

if you speak to your council they can approach the man as most councils dont approve of commercial vehicles being parked at residential addresses?

but on the other hand, most people take a works van home nowadays as it is safer at a home address as it will be at an unsecure yard or unit??

is it really such a big problem?????????
Ask him if he pays tax for private use of this transit van. A journey to and from work to one's own private residence is taxable so perhaps suggest that you would not like to have to phone his tax office?
I wouldn't try to antagonise him by threatening to report him to the tax office as that could just lead to things escalating.

Why not just live with it for a few weeks then next time you see him / her outside go and make conversation about something else. If you strike up a rapport with people first it's amazing how friendly they can be.

If I was your neighbour and knocked on your door saying "I don't like where you've parked your van, and I'm reporting you to the tax office" I'm pretty sure you'd be hacked off and dig your heels in, but if I came round, introduced myself and offered to go out for a drink sometime then mentioned in conversation about the van you'd be more inclined to move it.

Having just read that it sounds very patronising but I hope you get the jist - I'm trying to help even if it seems a bit long winded!!

Good luck in getting them to move it,

Dan
If it's on his drive then it is none of your business.
Sounds like you need to start putting manure in your flower beds, request a free visit from Stannah for next door, build a fence, stick a banana in the exhaust pipe (at night). Enjoy.
