immobiliser

My Ford Courier V reg van occasionally won't start with the led light flashing. The rac man told me it was the immobiliser. No auto electrician wants to come out and the ford dealer is far away and I'd find it difficult getting home from there. Is this easy to bypass as being an old van, I don't want a new immobiliser. and No I haven't asked 'Dave' in the pub yet
