I am travelling onto the continent in a diesel van.

What are the legal implications of running said vehicle on RED DIESEL?

the basics are iirc customs will scrap your vehicle and fine you

Presumably he meant using red whilst abroard, also presume that he would also drain or run it out and fill with derv before entering U.K, so what the heck has customs got to do with it ?
Ive been across the channel many times in diesel vans, 4x4s estate cars etc and never been dipped yet, never used red but often wondered if they ''checked'' over there

Use of rebated heavy oils is illegal in the EU.

Customs in EU countries may test suspect vehicles by dipping the fuel tank, testing the exhaust and/or checking the fuel injectors.

Traces of the various dyes used can be detected even if diluted many times over with road diesel.

if you want your head chewed up and spat out just being honest. european law a lot tighter. customs in this country if found will give you hard time. they prob lock you up overthere. it will take you a very very long time to get red out of your system. be carefull
