This is bugging me - why do old men buy BMWs, Mercs, Audis etc capable of doing 150mph and then drive them everywhere at 30mph ?? and why do chav/boy racers buy beaten up old fiestas and novas capable of doing 30mph and drive them everywhere at 150mph ??

is it just me or has anyone else noticed this

To answer your first part: Because they can.

Part 2: Because that's usually all they can afford and insure. Also you have to spend 30 on the car and 3k on the sterio! which incidentally only adds about 5 to the value of the car!

Old men have more money then chav boy racers!!

I am an old man and retired so perhaps I can answer your question.

I drive an expensive car because I can afford it, I do not drive it slow but up to the speed limits.

If I want to drive fast and really enjoy myselfe I go for a blast through the Welsh mountains on my Kawasaki!, that gets the adrenaline flowing.

Loosehead, shurely you jesht? A chav in his Nova/Corsa/106/Saxo is insured???
The experience of driving an expensive car is one to be cherished and one that you would do anything to extend the time you spend doing so.

Driving a Nova or a Rover 214 etc must be a horrible experience therefore the driver propels their vehicle as fast as they can to get to their destinations and end their unpleasureable experience as soon as possible.

My theory anyway
Nice one gandy......i agree!
