Pug 306 wont start

my peugeot 306 has been running fine up until today when i tried to start it, when i turn the key all it does is try to turn over and click, a bit like a ratchet spanner being turned constantly. does anyone know what it could be??

Sounds like your battery is flat

check you didn't leave anything turned on before buying new bits and bobs to 'cure' the fault.
