poss a central locking pump fault or even a latch fault, are all the doors shut properly including the boot
this happened on my peugeot 405- it was simply that one of my doors wasn't shut properly
Question Author
checked the doors and boot, they are all shut.....does anyone know what the fuse number is so i can disable the central locking as i dont have an owners manual to check?
on the back of the cover there should b symbols of things think u should b lookin for a door symbol not sure though worth a try

Its probably none of the above! Open the drivers door and pull back the rubber gaitor that the wires run through. Chances are at least one of the wires are frayed or broken. If not try the other doors, this is a common fault on 306's

THE CURE The fault is in the door lock/catch, which is telling the "Brain" of the system that the door isn`t closed properly. To test which lock is faulty - 1, remove interior door panel. 2, lift sleeve on electrical connector block on door lock and pull block clear. 3, obtain a 30mm piece of suitable wire and strip insulation from each end. 4, insert one end of this wire into terminal 3 & other end into terminal 4 within the (the bit with the wires connected to it) block MAKE SURE CORRECT TERMINAL, THEY ARE NUMBERED OUTSIDE and INSIDE THE BLOCK. The doors will lock at this point and you can operate the system with this door open. If fault persists try another door!! 5, If system works correctly, remove wire loop you made. 6, Peel back a couple of inches (cm) of the black tape from the terminal block end to access wires. 7, Approx 50mm from block, strip 10mm of the green/yellow wire, don`t cut it! 8, Do the same with the brown wire (although this wire was pink on my car), just make sure they are going to terminals 3&4 9, Tin and solder these two wires together at this point and the fault is cured!! Disadvantage is that system will lock even if door is on second catch, or open, so make sure you close them properly before locking. Happy Motoring!!

Access door lock by removing interior door panel. Remove terminal block by lifting slide-up securing clip on terminal block. Identify wires to terminal 3&4 of the the lock (terminal is nunbered inside and out). These are the green/yellow wire and the brown wire (although this "Brown" was pink on my car), and insert a wire loop between terminals 3&4 of the terminal block. If this is the faulty lock, the system will operate properly, if not, try another door! Once correct lock located strip insulation on these two wires (don`t cut wires) and solder them together. Tape-up solder joint and fault cured. DISADVANTAGE - System will lock, even if door is not correctly closed, so make sure you close them before locking the car.
can someone tell me which fuse it is? i will check the wiring but wont get chance until the weekend so for now want to just pull the central locking fuse out and lock the door manually, i only use the drivers door anyway.

thanks
we had exactly the same problem and took out fuse 17, now you can lock all the doors manually with the keys. simples.
