I can't see anything on here about display failures

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/reasons-why-your-car-fails-an-mot
No. Common sense can tell you that info if you are a careful driver ( ie doors shut, time ,miles you have left etc. Pretty much superfluous and not life threatening. No vehicle fails on gimmicks
Absolutely not a failure....these info screens are not part of the MOT.
Is everyone sure? MOT shows mileage when tested, if this is not visible, what do MOT testing station fill in? I would check with testing station.
Question Author
The mileage that the vehicle has done is the one i was mostly concerned about ; which is displayed on that screen .

I spoke to the chap at a MOT testing station earlier and asked him if the mileage done by the car was not available when the vehicle went for it's MOT , would he issue a pass certificate , or would he fail it .

He replied well he wouldn't be able to put the mileage on the certificate and seem to think that it would mean that the vehicle would fail it's MOT

Which is why i'm looking for a definite answer - yes pass or no fail

// Which is why i'm looking for a definite answer //

Think you got one from the chap at a MOT testing station
Question Author
He did not give a definite answer - he was not sure
He intimated that he would need to look it up
Perhaps call him back and ask him to look it up Baz.

Buenchico did say to get it sorted prior to MOT last December.

Mileage not being displayed is not an MOT failure...it's an advisory.
(The mileage reading is only recorded on the MOT certificate for information)
OK gingejbee, I don't understand why this service is available, but can mileage just be recorded as not known?

https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
OP said he had rung test station, and tester was unsure and was going away to check / do some research.
Mileage is recorded as a safeguard against 'clocking' (altering the reading so the car appears to have done less miles than it actually has.) Whether it is now compulsory I know not.

Is there something in the MOT manual that states that if an instrument is fitted then it must be working for it to pass an MOT ?
As I said earlier your best information will come MOT test station as to wether they can issue certificate with no recorded mileage.
OK from horses mouth as it were, my local garage, yes will pass MOT but in mileage box, they will enter unreadable. Mystery solved.
