What are the implications for a good friend who has allowed you to park your car up their driveway if you are having difficulties getting the car SORNED ..TIA
Thanks Waterboatman. He's a good friend but his wife is worried that my car is technically illegal because I had some difficulties getting it registered as off road. She's probably worried that the authorities will find out and drag it off their property!
Have you sorned it or not? If you have, and it’s off-road, no problem. If you haven’t but you’ve still paid the licence fee, no problem. If youve neither paid nor sorned then you might be in trouble, but there’s no reason why your friend should be.
Thanks JNO, I have been trying to SORN it but my paperwork was out of date apparently. I have to order a new V5C :-/
I don't know why his wife is wetting herself ...if the *** hits the fan, I am liable, not her. It's all a bit delicate because they are good friends and I'm grateful that they let me park it up their driveway (I recently hit hard times) ..it's all a bit awk...waaard!
Thanks folks, this is in England.
The issue however is that the car is off the road but not officially registered as such (paperwork complications) and my friends have issues with that and have suddenly given me a deadline ("if it's not SORNd by the end of the weekend, remove it"). My only option is to get a new V5C form and that won't happen by then.
