You just put the key in, turn it, when the engine starts put it in gear and off you go.(^_*)
The authorities (not sure which one) DVLA or Highways Agency have camera cars that patrol round the streets where I live as we only have on road parking & use ANPR to catch people who have not paid their road tax.
Yes, and not only that, if you do not tax your vehicle or declare it off the road you will be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice.
Car owners also have to be insured unless they have a SORN for it.
ANPR is now so efficient ( well they have been working on it for 50y ) that they can and do track cars in real time as they drive around

and various flags can be set and click up

relevant things like - driver has a gun licence .....

some london bombers were tracked in their car to manch and arrested when they alighted - all done with ANPR
and the system made £2 bn sales the day after their arrest
every tin pot dictator said: " I gotta have one of them !"

You all wait until "traffic wardens" have hand held or helmet scanners. I am sure I warned of that some time ago, no takers. Then I asked who is controlling the tech to do such searches. We will all be vulnerable to the corrupt official and tech provider alike.
ANPR,they know whether you are taxed, insured, MOTd, political party, shoe size, blood group, preferred drink, favourite colour, inside leg and of course what car you drive.
It's all down to modern Tec Ram, it's all linked to ANPR, ( Automatic Number Plate Recognition ) It's nice when you get a sensible answer Ramesses!!!!!
The answer is to have a foreign plated car, they are not on the UK database yet...
Of course you're only supposed to drive for 6 months in the UK on foreign plates before you register the car here, but what the hell, no-one cares about that law.

(thanks, just wanted to get that off my chest)
