Idling Speed

Have Volvo 460 (1996),auto with CVT gearbox - have lost the workshop manual and have problem locating replacement.
Engine over-running : anyone know how to adjust.?
Grateful for any help or advice.

Could be the coolant temp sender up the spout or the wiring to it. If so the ECU receives no signal from it and assumes that the engine is cold.
What do you mean by "over-running"? tonyav seems to think you mean idling too quickly ie, too many revs at tickover. I'm wondering if you mean the engine continues to run for a short time after you turn-off the ignition. This could mean that your engine has deposits in it caused by short trips, need for servicing or high mileage.

Given that the post is Titled "Idling Speed" I thought it was reasonably clear.
Bang-on Baldric - I was concentrating on the contents and ignoring the title.
If it's only just started, check the pipe to the ACV, there may be a Hairline crack in the pipe.
