Is the road fund Licence fair? are the drivers that drive bigger cars / vans / 4x4s getting ripped off, Excluding HGVs as they do pay their dues due to the amount of Axels they have.

The one's that have 4 wheels do! or do they?
For my 2028 post I forgot to add that I believe UK registered HGVs should be allowed to use "red" as do our depleted fishing fleets who deliver essential food to our tables. :-)

A person down our way many years back Retro had a Diesel Tank with a red Derv tank welded inside, he ran that for years but eventually got caught, they took his lorry & a £2000 fine, he laughed as he was still in pocket.

For the Time to correct me 10/10.
Oh my god. I recall having to pull HGVs in to the bull ring on Chelsea Embankment outside the Royal Hospital. Customs and Excise didn't have the authority to pull over their targets.
As a traffic cop (spit :-)) we were advised to use string to dip a tank.
Some prat (from C&E as it was then) used a rolled up newspaper. He only pulled out half his Daily Mirror and the rest clogged up the injectors big time soon after. Big bill to pay for C & E in compensayshunn
^^That made me laugh Retro.
With diesel down to 96 p a litre now it's cheaper than cooking oil so there's no point running your car on that any more.
What price is 'RED' now ? The only time I looked at the price of red diesel it was only 20p a litre less than the regular stuff. Is it still worth the risk?

There is a Sunday Market near our Town Eddie, the C.E. are there often checking Derv cars / vans out, they have caught a few on Red.
There certainly is a tax on static caravans.

Mobile home site owners charge 20% VAT on site rents. There was a charge of £573 for VAT last year at the site we used to have a caravan on..
Paul, ///and i only use about 6 gallons a year/// not worth getting excited about is it?

Dodger, not exactly VED though is it, which is what the question is about?
Agreed, but tax is tax.
