This has been one of my favourite sculptures in the FOD and its a very sad day to see it come down. Hope they replace it with something just as awesome !

What a great shame. I bet it inspired the imagination of many small children.
At first I thought why not just fence it off but seeing the rot inside after it was felled I could see it probably would of collapsed soon any way.
Why can't the lady who erected it start another project and do it again in rot proof/weather proof fibre glass or epoxy resin I wonder.

No problem , though it is a shame it's gone it was necessary - lasted almost 30 times longer than planned so not bad.

Plus as you say lots more to see, am sure a new installation will be along soon.
