Falling Face Down In The Mud

I was out with Tilly, crossing a ditch between two fields. It was a muddy ditch and I lost my footing and fell headlong, hitting my face on the furthest bank.
That was Thursday. I still have a swollen nose and a headache. I have taken Ibuprofen.

I know some of you will be sympathetic and some of you will laugh. Which gang are you in?

I'm sympathetic. I fell over about a month ago and I still have a lump on my chin.

It is not just the physical hurt and the shock but also the embarrassment and the fear that you may do it again if not concentrating 100%.
Last time I fell I was admiring cloud formations and tripped on a protruding paving stone.
Took weeks for knees to heal but split lip only lasted a week.

Hey no laughing matter falling in mud in a ditch, I did exactly the same a few years ago and broke my ruddy wrist, so you have my sympathy :-)

I was coming back from the shop. I had a bag in both hands. Tripped over a slab, landed on my knee then on my face. I had a swollen bleeding chin, a graze down my face, black eye and badly grazed knee.

The 'best' bit was that Tilly came to my aid by licking my face. She was very concerned.
