I have my engine light come up on my W reg vauxhall astra. The car seems to have no driving problems and the light only comes up when I appear to have had my foot on the accelerator for a sustained period. If the light comes on i take my foot off the pedal or push it more gently and the light goes off after a couple of minutes. I have no idea what the light is for!

Its orangey red.. I thought there was a seperate oil light though???  Thankyou very much.. it'll give me something to go to the garage with.  I'll ask them to check the fan belt.
