Photographic ID needed very quickly

A friend of mine is meant to be going on holiday on Thursday and his passport hasn't turned up yet. He needs to get another form of photographic ID before then. Can anyone suggest something that will do the trick?

Don't know if you can get a rail card / buss pass immediately, driving licence will take longer than a couple of days! Not sure of any other photographic ID that is available.

country_boy, will another form of photographic ID replace a passport? I'm a little surprised.

Artful, it will if he is going somewhere like Jersey or Guernsey from the UK but no where else I don't think? They only photographic ID I can think of is a travel pass (train/bus) they will do it for you there and then.

We had this problem with an Easyjet flight - my wife did not have her passport - they would accept her driving license photo-card, or a company ID card bearing a photo. Also a student ID card. Does your friend have any of the above?
