I've recently bought an older car - it's a Fiat Seicento. On the V5C the registration date is 31/01/2002 but the registration plate is a 51...shouldn't it be a 52 plate? I'm confused.

51 plate ran from Sept to March
according to this 02 plates started in March 2002 http://uk.answers.yah...20071212144554AAPbDMR
52 starts 1st March

..so even though it says on the V5C Registered 2002, it is in fact a 2001 plate? Weird how they work it out.
As baza intimates Sept '01 - Feb '02 is 51, Mar '02 - Aug '02 is 02, Sept '02 - Feb '03 is 52 etc., so 31/1/02 is a 51 plate.
The plates change on March 1st and Sept 1st.
Hope you didn't pay more than £300 for it !
A 52 plate could be Feb 03

Eddie51, seriously? £300? I paid £750! It had a full years MOT and under 60,000 miles on the clock. Service history to. I bought from a reputable local garage. I'm worried I've been ripped off now? Thoughts anyone?
