Because of the Labour government GP's today are seriously rich, what they have to complain about is beyond me. I can remember the times when GP's actually came to see you on emergency callouts, whatever the time, which as far as I can see certainly doesn't happen nowadays.

Totally agree Craft - the older doctors seemed to have the most loyalty to their patients ........... but perhaps not in every case.
According to the TV news tonight, their average pension is still likely to work out at about £50,000 pa.
Most people would think that that was enough to live on in retirement.
how can you expect them to run cars, boats golf club membership on £50,000 pa.

Sad state of affairs if they do strike - don't they care about their patients at all?
Silly me, bazza...forgot about their boats etc ...:-))
baza.....LOL....too bloody right AND buy villas in the sun..........and remember, keeping a mistress isn't cheap anymore.

Ann...."what is good for the goose is good for the gander"......the NHS is a public sector with public sector employees, unions with rules in which strike action is a legal and a well used method of negotiation open to all.

So why not the doctors?

My personal view.......yes, to support my colleagues, I would withdraw my services to all except emergencies. No government has in the past or will in the future refuse to give in to the doctors.......it is a political pawn,State run and too valuable too upset the electorate.

Also my personal view.......doctors, nurses and all ancillary NHS workers are already overpaid and have a good deal in the NHS not offered by the private sector or seen in any other country.

Just my views you understand.
they can strike, but i am not convinced they will get a lot of sympathy or support from the general populace. Seeing how many are struggling along, trying to make ends meet.
They won't get much sympathy, even though, as doctors, they remain respected by the public. They constitute almost the highest paid sector in work today, higher paid than any except directors of quoted companies. Other professions have higher paid individuals; lawyers can be on millions; but the average pay is far less in their line of work, whereas every GP on a standard NHS contract is highly paid
Just look on it as another Bank Holiday!
Overpaid, oversexed, overseas

(not looking at anyone inparticular lol)
