The whistling is probably the turbo which is usually audible when the windows are open, so if it's on its way out the whistle may become more prominent. The rally cars I've seen limping back off the stage with a blown turbo smoke like hell.

Question Author
hi twr no..it smokes all the time from cold hot etc...get the car upto speed say do 60mph on the d road and there is no smoke at all, seems to smoke when revving at idle, and when building upto speed etc...i noticed yesterday when looking directly under the bonnet..the black plastic pipe which comes from the turbo on the right hand side seems to have alot of oil from where it connects to the turbo itself,it looks as if its leaking oil ???

Internal oil seal within the turbo, IF that is the case, it's been a cheap Fix in comparison to the Valve stem seals Anthony.

Question Author
i take it the turbo has to be removed to fit new seal etc?

Just been having a look at the pros & cons regards this Anthony, when your friend car has had the right diagnostic on this, do not jump for the "NEW UNIT" you can either go for a recon with 12 months warranty, one from a scrap yard or a Megane breakers, or 247 car parts on Google, the turbo is not a big job to remove, it can be done in a matter of 2>>3hrs, I would FULLY CHECK the pipe work to the turbo first, check that the oil is not getting lost, it seems that the oil is dropping into the inlet, but I may be corrected on that, but what ever, running with a defective Turbo can cause further problems so I suggest you get it checked ASAP.

Hi Anthony
Check this, eBay, Item No/280879575351 £100 + postage In Basil-don Essex, Contact No/07921 585699. Turbo Spares/ 01376 503350, Part No/KP35 Part No/5435 988 0002. 01740 646 964( sales@turboactive.com) I would search around your area first Anthony, what part of the UK? do not rush into buying a replacement without getting the right Dio on the problem, do not go to K.F. otherwise you will end up having to bye a new engine, if you are not well up go to a local small family owned garage but do not take their first answer as final. |
