We have 3 young (growing quickly) lads and are looking to buy a bigger car. I know all the bad press about 4x4s etc, but I hate people carriers. What decent 7 seater can you recommend, must be reliable and not too expensive on servicing.  Any ideas folks will be gratefully entertained.

Vauxhall Zafiras seem to have good reputation. The two rear seats are not the biggest in the world, but not bad for a free on-demand minicab!

Being smaller than the average MPV will also make it cheaper to run, and it's based on an Astra, so servicing and spares will be easy to come by.

My bro' has a Renault espace turbo Diesel, a wife, 3 kids and a dog.  It's done 140Kmiles, very little trouble, fuel economic but servicing is a shade more expensive.

thank you chaps, we are going to see a Pajero tonight, if no good I will bear these in mind!
Volvo - holds its value - long life - auto best - trouble with the zafiras etc are the lack of boot space which is true for the MPV range too whereas the Volvo has big back seat for kids and large boot with seats that go into floor when not in use - also very safe with the SIPS etc
