Exhaust Gas Return valve.
Basically a valve that helps to burn some metered amount of exhaust gases by recirculating these gases back into the combustion camber, thereby bettering the exhaust emmissions co and co2 content.

Some use "Recirculating".
reducing NO2 oxides of nitrogen as well.

The EGR valve, or Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve, is a vacum controlled valve which allows a specific amount of your exhaust back into the intake manifold. Unfortunately, your EGR Valve can get stuck, causing NOX gases to build up. You'll know if your EGR Valve is stuck or malfunctioning be-
cause symptoms like rough idle and bucking on acceleration.
The EGR Valve is a good thing! It does not have to be replaced, IT CAN BE CLEANED! Nkakamasent is right on!
