How do I remove the glass from the wing mirror so I can disconnect the electrics and remove the wing mirror?

Hi, the mirror is seated on Plastic plate the same size as the mirror and at times held in place by a circular clip that clips on the rear side of the plastic plate ( Sorry to confuse you) Use a flat blade devise to lever it out, you can then remove the wires.

I understand what your saying but i can't get a screwdriver behind the mirror to prise it off without damaging the mirror itself. Any suggestions as to what kind of tool i can use to unclip it?

Turn the Mirror to the end of it's travel either Left / Right you should be able to see the retaining clip.
