fiesta engine noise

My fieta has recently started to make a lot of noise when the engine is in 3rd,4th and 5th gear and under load. It stops when i take my foot off the accelerator,but obviously summat is amiss. Can anyone please shine a light on this for me???

we all realise that you may not be too technically minded but try and describe the noise, is it a deep rumbling sound or a light tapping sound. the age of the car and the engine size if you know it would help. some of us on here would probably know the cause of the trouble as the range of engines fitted to the fiesta have their own little quirks as do most cars come to that.

The car is a P reg Zetec, petrol engine. 1.2lit. 16 valve. The noise only comes after the engine has warmed up.Not a rumbling noise more like a rattling... but nothing is loose!!!

Check your oil levels for engine and gearbox, hard to say if engine or gearbox. points to gearbox at the moment, if tinney rattle from engine it points to big ends, small ends and camshaft, camshaft most likely..

might need an oil/filter change

With the engine in neutral i can take it to very high revs and everthing sounds sweet....! A friend has suggested putting a thicker oil in the engine but alas I fear a trip to the local garage is inevitable.

Do you think its not the gearbox?

If your have a dodgy gearbox, sometimes you can feel the vibration in the gear lever when the noise occurs

whay would he gearbox make a rattling sound if i is in neutral and the engine at idle??
