Just bought myself a new DAB car radio/CD/MP3 player. It seems fantastic except it goes dead when the ignition is turned off (there is a electric supply to the unit as it loads a CD with ignition off).

My old unit would play for 1 hour with the ignition off.

Has anyone else had this problem? It seems one step forward.....

When you turn OFF the ignition, do you get a musical note asking for the facia to be removed? IF NOT the wiring is connected wrong at the rear. I do not have the colours at hand but this could be a problem. The memory also goes when they are crossed.

Yes, I do get the musical note when turning the ignition to off.

I rang the bloke in the shop, he thought it can be wired differently to "always on" but I was the first person to have asked for that!

There is alway a electric supply to the unit anyway to keep the presets active. He will ask the fitter when he comes in but he only works on Tuesdays evenings.
