Hi i had no hot water on any of my taps so i asked my friend what to do he said that it was an air lock in the pipe and to turn on the hot tap put my hand over the tap and turn on the cold water to release the air lock sure enough this worked . But when i used my washing machine the hot water dried up again. I know it was the washing machine because i havent used it in a week and the hot water has been fine any help would be wonderfull many thanks.

Connect your mains supply to you hot water tap/outlet. Turn on hot water then the mains. If there is a air lock you will hear it burping in your cold water tank. Gravity is not usually strong enough to clear an air lock so you have to flush it out from the bottom up. If you have a mixer tap, that is connected to the mains in your kitchen, unscrew the filter, then clamp a piece lino tile over the end. open the the hot tap then the mains.

cut about 2 foot off a garden hose and stick it on your cold tap then attatch it to your hot tap and turn both on for a short while. like the previous answer you'll probably hear a bit gurgling and that should do it.
