LCD screen on Goodmans CD/digital radio

My car stereo is a Goodmans CD / digital radio with removable front panel. The CD and radio work but the LCD screen doesn't work at all now so can't see what I'm selecting etc. Does anyone know the likely cause and the solution to this?

is road tax needed on an unadopted road?
